Mapping bicycle safety on Australia's roads

Over the period 2019 to 2024, James Sinclair and I have been working with the Transport Accident Commission in Victoria, Australia to create the most comprehensive map of cycling safety in Melbourne.

For each road in Melbourne, and many in Bendigo, Geelong, and Perth, you can see each individual passing event that was collected by our 175 cyclist volunteers. Data from the map has been invaluable to local councils planning infrastructure ugprades in their area.
